Vol. 382 No. 1

Written Answers. - Portrane (Dublin) Hospital Staffing.

31.

asked the Minister for Health if he has taken any action in relation to staffing in St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane, County Dublin concerning which representations were made to him several months ago; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The staffing of St. Ita's Hospital, Portrane, is the responsibility of the Eastern Health Board. I have had inquiries made of the Eastern Health Board and I have been informed that the board are providing an appropriate service at St. Ita's Hospital. In addition, the assistant inspector of mental hospitals has carried out a statutory inspection of St. Ita's Hospital and is satisfied with the general conditions and standard of care provided at the hospital. The staff to patient ratio has been improved during the past two years and I do not propose, therefore, to take any further action in this matter at the present time.
