Vol. 382 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Kilkenny National School Grant.

53.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in having a grant approved for the provision of new toilets, a staff room and a boiler house at Newmarket national school, Hugginstown, County Kilkenny where all details were submitted to her Department on 19 April 1988; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Various proposals for the improvement of Newmarket national school, Hugginstown, County Kilkenny, not all of which have been acceptable for purposes of my Department's grant scheme, have been under consideration. In the course of recent discussions with the school authorities, agreement was reached on an acceptable scheme of works, and the drawings have now been referred back for final revisions to the local Office of Public Works, who act as my Department's agents in technical matters of this nature. Subject to the successful outcome of negotiations for a suitable tender, I hope that work on the scheme will commence this year.
