Vol. 382 No. 9

Written Answers. - Environmental Grants.

137.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason Finglas, Dublin 11 was overlooked in the recent major allocation of funds from the national lottery in the environmental grants area; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that no group in Finglas were allocated funds in the formal list supplied to Dublin Corporation.

Neither Finglas nor any other part of the country was overlooked in the amenity grant allocations. However, because of the very substantial number of applications for grants and the comparatively limited resources available for the scheme, it was not possible to make grants in respect of projects in each district. I should point out, however, that grants totalling £186,000 were paid in respect of projects in the Finglas area in 1986-87 when other areas did not receive any grants.
