asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the works undertaken by the Maynooth branch of the Royal Canal Restoration Group, County Kildare; and if he will offer the group a grant from the proceeds of the national lottery in respect of current or proposed improvement works thereat.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will favourably consider an application for grant-aid from the national lottery from the Kilcock Branch of the Royal Canal Restoration Committee, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions 48 and 49 together. The Maynooth and Kilcock branches of the Royal Canal amenity group are undertaking improvement works to the Royal Canal in their areas with the co-operation and assistance of the Office of Public Works. There are no funds available to me from the national lottery from which a grant could be made for these works.
