The notification, under the Mergers, Take-overs and Monopolies (Control) Act, 1978, of the proposed take-over of Irish Distillers by G C & C Brands Limited will be rigorously examined by me. The Act empowers me, inter alia, to refer the proposal to the Fair Trade Commission for examination.
