Vol. 382 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Dublin Road.

101.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the dangerous condition of Church Road, Ballybrack/Killiney, County Dublin; the action, if any, he intends taking to rectify the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

111.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends providing funds in order to commence construction of the new Church Road, Ballybrack, County Dublin.

I am taking Questions Nos. 101 and 111 together.

The section of Church Road adjoining the Bray Road has been improved to dual-carriageway standard. This work, which was completed in 1978, was fully funded from road grants. In December, 1987, I approved Dún Laoghaire Corporation's compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of property to facilitate the improvement of a further section of the road. The timing of this work, which will qualify for road grant, has been considered in the context of the preparation of a draft blueprint for road development which has just been completed. I will be making a statement relating to the blueprint shortly.

Maintenance of the existing Church Road is a matter for the local authority.
