I have received messages from the President stating that after consultation with the Council of State he had referred the Adoption (No. 2) Bill, 1987, to the Supreme Court pursuant to Article 26 of the Constitution for a decision as to whether the Bill was repugnant to the Constitution or to any provision thereof and that the court had decided that the Bill was not repugnant to the Constitution or to any provision thereof and that he had accordingly signed the Bill. The texts of these messages will be set out in the Official Report and in the Journal of Proceedings of the Dáil.
