asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed extension to Killeen national school, County Laois.

My Department have under consideration the provision of grant-aid towards the cost of providing a classroom unit by way of extension to Killeen national school, County Laois, and the school authorities will as soon as possible be informed of developments. As the Deputy will be aware, I am meeting a deputation regarding this school on Wednesday of this week to discuss the project in detail.

asked the Minister for Education if she will make a statement on the development of phase II of Scoil Bhríde national school, Knockmay, Portlaoise, County Laois, which caters for junior cycle only at present.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need to provide additional school accommodation in Portlaoise, County Laois, with particular emphasis on the future development of Scoil Bhríde; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 143 and 144 together.

My Department are examining the need for additional school accommodation in Portlaoise having regard to the school facilities available in the general area.
