Only one Member of the Oireachtas has been granted early retirement-voluntary redundancy under the scheme for national teachers. Details of the successful applicants are regarded as confidential. Selection under the early retirement-voluntary redundancy scheme for national school teachers was made on the basis of age criteria. No member of the Government or of the Houses of the Oireachtas has been granted redundancy under the voluntary redundancy schemes for secondary and community and comprehensive and vocational teachers.
