The only grants paid directly to private companies by my Department are paid through the western development fund. This is a fund under my control which provides assistance for worthwhile economic projects in the western counties which do not come within the terms of existing schemes of assistance. The fund is administered by a central development committee and by the county development teams in the counties concerned.
