Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Riverstown (Sligo) Water Supply.

156.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the extreme difficulties and inconvenience being caused in Riverstown, County Sligo over a long period by the pollution of the existing water supply and, in view of the fact that proposals for an alternative supply has been lodged with his Department for some time, he will sanction the necessary money to enable this essential work to begin.

I have recently conveyed approval to the laying of pipes for this scheme by direct labour and to the contract documents for the remainder of the scheme. It is now a matter for the county council to proceed with the direct labour works and to seek the necessary tenders for the various contracts and to submit them to me for approval in due course.
