Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tallaght (County Dublin) Hospital.

195.

asked the Minister for Health when it is envisaged that construction will start on the new Tallaght Hospital, Dublin 24; the reason for the delay in the construction of this hospital; when it is anticipated that the hospital will begin to be utilised; the reason he has refused to meet community representatives of the area to discuss the matter; and if he will reconsider his decision in this regard.

There has been no significant delay in the planning of Tallaght Hospital. The scale and complexity of the development necessitates a high degree of consultation with the various bodies involved in the project. It is anticipated that construction work will commence in mid 1990 and be completed in 1993.

I have met with and I have taken account of views of local representative interests and I should also point out that I have recently appointed Mr. Charles O'Connor who is actively involved in community affairs in the Tallaght area to the Tallaght Hospital Board.
