Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Stress in Nursing.

221.

asked the Minister Health if he will publish the report entitled Stress in Nursing which was submitted to his Department in the summer of this year.

A report on a study which was commissioned by my Department on stress in Irish nursing has been submitted. In accordance with the standard procedures in relation to research projects, the report is now being assessed.

The Deputy will appreciate that stress factors exist to a greater or lesser degree throughout present day society and in the Irish context we are now more conscious of the fact that factors affecting the toll of morbidity and mortality in Ireland today derives from influences determined by lifestyles and general living environment. I have asked the Health Promotion Unit to address the issue of stress in society in the context of their work of providing a positive approach to health.
