Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Kerry Speech Therapy Facilities.

228.

asked the Minister for Health if he will take steps to tackle the long delays in the provision of speech therapy facilities for pupils in County Kerry.

229.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the long delays for speech therapy facilities in County Kerry; and the steps he proposes to take to alleviate the consequent hardship caused.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 228 and 229 together.

The provision of speech therapy services in County Kerry is a matter for the Southern Health Board. I understand that there is at present a vacancy for a speech therapist in that area which the board has been unable to fill as yet. The position about speech therapy services in the Southern Health Board area generally is under review at present.
