Vol. 383 No. 6

Written Answers. - Subsistence Allowance Entitlement.

235.

asked the Minister for Defence the reason travel subscriptions from Drogheda, County Louth to St. Bricin's Hospital, Dublin 7 were withdrawn and had to be paid by a person (details supplied) in County Louth; the amount of money involved; the regulations under which this was done; and when this money will be refunded.

Limerick West): The person referred to was paid subsistence allowance totalling £175.62 in respect of his attendance at St. Bricin's Hospital on various dates between 4 June 1985 and 2 January 1986. As it appeared subsequently that the recipient was not on duty during the period in question the amount paid was recovered in accordance with Paragraph 68 of Defence Force Regulations S3. The question of his entitlement to the allowance is being re-examined and I will communicate further with the Deputy in this regard.
