Vol. 383 No. 7

Written Answers. - Relocation of Firing Range.

35.

asked the Minister for Defence, in view of the requests made to him in writing by Deputy Michael Keating during this year which have not yet been fully dealt with, if he will give details of the outcome of his inquiry into the incidents of bullet cartridges being found adjacent to McKee Barracks, Dublin 7; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that residents in the area are concerned about possible danger to life from the proximity of the firing range to this residential area; and if he will have the firing range relocated within the complex.

Limerick West): Following an earlier complaint the firing range at McKee Barracks was temporarily closed. An investigation into the whole matter was carried out and certain modifications will be made. I shall inform the Deputy when the work has been carried out.

I am assured there will be no danger to life for any resident nearby. The firing range will not be used until the modifications have been carried out.
