Vol. 383 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

136.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be awarded a disability benefit payment; if so, when; and the rate.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 27 September 1988.

In order to qualify for payment of disability benefit, a claimant must have at least 39 contributions paid since entering into insurable employment and 39 contributions paid or credited in the contribution year governing the claim.

According to the records of the Department, the person concerned has a total of only 36 contributions paid since entering insurable employment and 36 contributions paid in the governing contribution year. As she does not satisfy either of these conditions she is therefore not entitled to payment of benefit on her present claim. She was notified to this effect on 5 October 1988 and invited to submit any additional information she might have regarding her social insurance record. No additional information has come to hand.
