Vol. 383 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Wexford Forestry.

157.

asked the Minister for Energy if there are any proposals to recruit part-time or full-time forestry workers in a given area of County Wexford (details supplied) in view of the recent reductions in staff levels there; and, if so, the way in which such recruitment will be carried out.

The area in question is a statutory nature reserve and is being transferred to the Office of Public Works though my Department are retaining ownership of the commercial timber on the site. My Department has no proposals at present to recruit forestry workers in this area.

The question of the employment of any other workers, aside from those required for the harvesting of timber, is a matter for the Office of Public Works.
