My Department are responsible for the legislative control of aquaculture activity and for formulating and implementing appropriate national policies and programmes for management, conservation, development, protection, improvement, commercial exploitation of resources and related matters.
Bord Iascaigh Mhara are responsible for the development of the aquaculture industry including the provision of financial assistance to approved projects (including the sponsorship of EC grant aid applications) and the provision of market information and development of an organised marketing strategy for aquaculture products and related matters. Bord Iascaigh Mhara have primary responsibility for promoting the export of fish and fish products (with assistance from Córas Tráchtála Teoranta).
Údarás na Gaeltachta are responsible for the development of the aquaculture industry in Gaeltacht areas.
