Vol. 383 No. 8

Written Answers. - National Lottery Allocations.

204.

asked the Minister for Health the total amount of moneys allocated to date to projects in south-west Cork out of the proceeds of the national lottery; if he will give details of same; and if he will give the proportion of such moneys expressed as a percentage of total allocations from his Department.

I have to date provided grants totalling £200,500 for Cork from the health allocation of national lottery proceeds. This includes a grant of £12,000 for Bantry Care of the Aged Association. It also includes grants totalling £90,000 for the provision of services which are not specific to any particular locality but which will benefit all persons living in Cork. Indeed many of the grants which have been provided from the national lottery proceeds available to my Department have been for the provision of services either on a nationwide basis by national organisations or alternatively on a health board basis either by health boards or regional based voluntary organisations. For this reason it would be meaningless to assess lottery allocations on either a county or a constituency basis.
