The teacher in question claimed privileged assistant status when a school in which she had served as principal closed in 1978 because of the small number of pupils in attendance. She had, however, no entitlement under the regulations to status as such, as there was not a formal amalgamation of schools involved. The position has been fully explained to the teacher on a number of occasions.
