Vol. 383 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dungarvan (Waterford) School Transport.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if she will provide school transport to Dungarvan post-primary schools for children in the Ring, County Waterford catchment area including Lismore/ Mount Stuart, who do not wish to attend an all-Irish school.

Ring catchment area comprises Gaeltacht and non-Gaeltacht areas and Scoil Niocláis, An Rinn, is considered to be fully adequate, and the appropriate centre for the post-primary children in that area.

Under the terms of the school transport scheme, eligible pupils from the Ring catchment area may be allowed transport to Dungarvan from the nearest pick-up point inside the Dungarvan catchment area only and provided there is room on the existing service. This service is operating to full capacity at present.
