asked the Minister for Justice if he will give details of the proposed capital works for his Department for which financial allocations have been made in the 1989 Book of Estimates.

Capital expenditure on prisons and places of detention. The money provides for development of security in Portlaoise, Limerick and Cork; for major upgrading in several places of services related to water supply , heating, electricity, catering, laundry, workshops, sanitation, sewerage and fire precautions.

For renovating and equipping existing probation hostels, for additional workshops and a site for a new hostel.

Garda Síochána

The purchase of equipment for the new communications network which is being provided for the Garda Síochána.
