Vol. 384 No. 1

Written Answers. - Revenue Commissioners' Statistics.

25.

asked the Minister for Finance the numbers employed in the Revenue Commissioners in (a) 1980, (b) 1985, (c) 1987 and (d) at present; if it is planned to increase this number; and the additional tax offices, if any, it is intended to open in the foreseeable future.

I propose to supply the details required by the Deputy in a tabular form. The matter of providing further resources is kept under continuing review and additional staff may be redeployed to Revenue from within the Civil Service as it is considered appropriate. There are no plans to open additional tax offices in the foreseeable future.

Numbers employed in the Revenue Commissioners: 1 January 1980, 6,893; 1 January 1985, 6,744; 1 January 1987, 6,482; 1 November 1988, 6,233.
