Vol. 384 No. 1

Written Answers. - Unit Trusts Yield.

43.

asked the Minister for Finance the total yield to the Exchequer from the levy payable on unit trusts for each of the years 1986 to 1988 inclusive.

There is no levy on those unit trusts which are not linked with life assurance policies. I assume, therefore, that the question refers to the levy on life insurance premiums charged by section 92 of the Finance Act, 1982.

I have been informed by the Revenue Commissioners that figures are not available as to the proportion of the yield which relates to unit linked life insurance premiums. The following is the total yield from chargeable life assurance premiums for the required years: 1986, £7.4 million; 1987, £17.0 million; 1988, £21.3 million (estimate).
