Vol. 384 No. 1

Written Answers. - Maintenance of Royal Canal.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance the plans he has for the proper upkeep and maintenance of the Dublin city stretch of the Royal Canal.

The first priority in relation to the Dublin City stretch of the Royal Canal is the renewal of lock gates and the dredging of the canal bed. This work is being undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works with the assistance of the Royal Canal Amenity Group according as resources are available. It is hoped to have most of this work completed in 1989 and to have arrangements made for the general improvement of the towpaths and surrounding area.
