Vol. 384 No. 1

Written Answers. - Extradition to the United Kingdom.

73.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons whose extradition to the United Kingdom was sought, to whom the terms of the Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987 have applied.

Warrants have been received in respect of five persons to whom the provisions of Extradition (Amendment) Act, 1987 apply. In addition, warrants in respect of a further six persons were received and subsequently recalled by the requesting authorities. Of these, the 1987 Act provisions applied to two cases, and the warrants in respect of the remaining four were recalled before there was an opportunity to establish whether the provisions of the 1987 Act applied.
