Vol. 384 No. 3

Written Answers. - Citizenship Application.

64.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will make a statement on the application for citizenship of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 who applied for citizenship circa two years ago but has not received any information other than acknowledgements since that date; and if he has made any decision on this matter in view of the fact that this person's husband has been granted citizenship within that approximate period.

According to departmental records the person mentioned as well as her husband submitted completed application forms for naturalisation in May 1987 and neither person has been granted a certificate of naturalisation to date.

Apart from delays which are affecting all applications, delay in reaching a decision in this case has been caused by difficulties which have arisen in relation to the processing of the applications in question and certain enquiries are still continuing. When these have been completed, I will make a decison and the applicants will be notified accordingly.
