Vol. 384 No. 3

Written Answers. - Castleknock (Dublin) School.

120.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that post-primary schools in Castleknock, Dublin 15 are unable to register any additional new entrants for the school year 1990 as they are already oversubscribed; if she will list the schools in the area which have places available for that year; if she has made a decision on the proposal to build a new second level school at Beech Park, Castleknock; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My attention has not been drawn to the situation indicated by the Deputy.

I should point out that such information is not normally sought by, or communicated to, me or my Department. Enrolment and intake policies are matters for school managements. My responsibility is to ensure that sufficient accommodation is available to satisfy the overall demand. No decision has been taken by me to build a new second-level school in Castleknock.
