asked the Minister for the Environment the subjects he expects to be discussed at the meeting of the Council of Environment Ministers of the EC on 24 November, 1988.

The following subjects have been listed for discussion at the meeting of the Council of Environment Ministers of the EC on 24 November, 1988:

1. Draft Statement on the Environment.

2. Proposal for a Council Directive on procedures for harmonising the programmes for the reduction and eventual elimination of pollution caused by waste from the titanium dioxide industry.

3. Proposal for a Council Directive on pollution by gases from motor vehicles with small cubic capacity (below 1.4 litres).

4. Proposal for a Council Directive on the prevention of air pollution from new municipal waste incineration plant.

5. Proposal for a Council Decision establishing a five-year-community-wide programme of projects illustrating how actions in the environmental field can also contribute to employment creation.

6. Proposal for a Council Directive on the contained use of genetically modified micro-organisms.

Proposal for a Council Directive on the deliberate release to the environment of genetically modified organisms.

7. Proposal for a Council Directive on the protection of natural and semi-natural habitats of wild fauna and flora.

8. Draft Council Resolution concerning transfrontier movements of toxic and hazardous waste to third countries.

9. Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer.

10. Discussion on the action to be taken on the report from the Brundtland Commission.
