Vol. 384 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water Schemes.

201.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction the Killybegs and south Kildare water mains schemes; the reason for the delay in sanctioning same; if his attention has been drawn to the serious situation which exists at a company (details supplied) in County Louth; whether these schemes, if sanctioned by his Department, would improve the situation of the company; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Having regard to the overall cost of these schemes and the capital available for the sanitary services programme generally, it is not possible, at this time, to indicate when I will be in a position to allow the schemes go to tender or construction.

While I am aware of the position of the company referred to, it would not be appropriate for me to speculate on whether their products would be used in connection with these schemes or on the effects this would have on the company.
