As indicated by me recently in the Dáil in reply to a related question, the status of the National Institute for Higher Education was part of the examination carried out by the international study group set up to examine third level technological education outside the universities and the case for a new technological university. As there have been no decisions taken on the report of this group there are no plans for legislation as raised by the Deputy.
