Vol. 384 No. 7

Written Answers. - Petrol Costs.

20.

asked the Minister for Energy if he has received a report from the consultants (details supplied) which confirms that petrol from British oil refineries was costing the Irish consumer almost 12 per cent more than other European countries; if he intends to take any action to deal with this overcharging; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A copy of the report to which the Deputy's question refers was received in June of this year by my predecessor but it was not commissioned by him or any other Minister. In any event, price control is a matter for the Department of Industry and Commerce.
