Vol. 384 No. 7

Written Answers. - Fire Safety.

62.

asked the Minister for the Environment when regulations will be prepared and enforced by his Department to implement Part 1 of the fire safety management proposals for fire safety in places of assembly; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Responsibility for compliance with regulations under section 37 of the Fire Services Act, 1981 rests with the person in control of a place of assembly. Action to secure enforcement of such regulations would be a matter for the fire authority concerned. I expect that work on the preparation of regulations in relation to the fire safety management aspects of places of public assembly will be completed shortly.
