Vol. 384 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork National School.

82.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in sanctioning the extension of two classrooms at Knockraha national school, County Cork; when sanction will be given; when it will reach tender stage; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The reason for the delay in sanctioning the extension to Knockraha national school, County Cork, is set out in the reply which I gave the Deputy to his question of 31 May 1988. The position has not significantly changed since then in relation to my Department's 1988 capital allocation for the national schools building programme, and accordingly I am not in a position to give a timetable for sanctioning the extension or seeking tenders for the project. In so far as it may be possible to help the school authorities to provide essential suitable classroom accommodation, their application for grant-aid is being considered in connection with my Department's 1989 capital allocation for the national schools building programme, in conjunction with other applications of a similar nature.
