Vol. 384 No. 8

Written Answers. - Information Services.

60.

asked the Taoiseach the amount of money provided for in 1988 and 1989 for (1) press and information activities and (2) public relations; and to whom this money is payable.

The amount of money provided in the Department of the Taoiseach Vote in 1988 for (1) press and information activities and (2) public relations is £16,000. In addition, a Supplementary Estimate for £300,000 in respect of costs related to the European Campaign will be brought before the Dáil shortly. The provision in 1989 for these services will similarly be £316,000.

As a general rule the normal allocation of £16,000 is payable to companies who provide regular goods and services such as advertising, publications, photographs, stationery and small items of equipment. The payees for the European Campaign are those companies who were successful in competitive tenders under the Government's Contracts Procedures.

Níl aon soláthar ar leith i Vóta Roinn na Gaeltachta chun na críche sin. Cuireadh £400,000 ar fáil don Roinn ó fháltais an chrannchuir náisiúnta le caitheamh ar fheachtas fógraíochta chun úsáid na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn. Níl aon socrú déanta go fóill faoina n-íocfar aon chuid den mhéid sin.
