Vol. 384 No. 9

Written Answers. - Local Authority Finance.

29.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the additional duties now imposed on local authorities, such as those under the Air Pollution Act, 1987 and the Abattoirs Act, 1988, and the extensive survey being carried out by the local authorities as part of their water pollution responsibilities, he will make additional finance available to the local authorities to meet the cost of these additional responsibilities.

It is a matter for each local authority to determine their own priorities with due regard to their statutory responsibilities and the finances available to them from all sources, including State grants.
