asked the Minister for Finance the salary scales, inclusive of allowances from 1978 to 1988 inclusive of the following: (a) Department Secretary (b) Department Deputy Secretary (c) Department Assistant Secretary and (d) Department Assistant Principal; and the salary scales of TDs for the same period.

The salary scales for the general service grades of Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Assistant Principal, from 1978 to 1988, are set out in the attached table. Allowances are not normally payable to these grades.

Salary scales as such are not payable to TDs. Remuneration by way of allowance is payable and is also shown for the same period.
