asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food, in view of the success of the single brand name strategy of an Bord Bainne in the export field, if he will consider making a recommendation to other export bodies such as An Córas Beostoic agus Feola to adopt a similar strategy in preparation for 1992.

I refer the Deputy to my reply on 29 June 1988 to Question No. 32 about the introduction of a single brand name for Irish meat sold abroad.

The question of whether it would be advantageous to introduce brand names for food products is primarily a matter for the industries involved in consultation with the relevant export promotion bodies which have to take cognisance of all the factors relating to individual products as well as of relevant EC provisions.
