Vol. 385 No. 1

Written Answers. - Intervention Beef Stocks.

49.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food in relation to the 460 tonnes of beef which is currently being distributed under the scheme for the supply of food from EC intervention stocks, the amount which has been in intervention for (a) more than two years, (b) more than three years, (c) more than four years, (d) more than five years, (e) more than six years and (f) more than ten years; if he has satisfied himself that all of the meat distributed is up to an acceptable standard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

None of the beef being distributed under the scheme referred to by the Deputy has been in store for more than two years and I am satisfied that all of this beef is up to an acceptable standard.
