Vol. 385 No. 2

Written Answers. - MMR Vaccine Supplies.

181.

asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself that there are adequate supplies of the MMR vaccine available in all health board areas at present.

I am satisfied that sufficient supplies of MMR vaccine have been made available to all health boards to meet the demand for vaccination from the identified target groups of children between 15 months to 24 months and 24 months to five years of age. However, due to the unprecedented success of the Department's media campaign there has been a significant demand for vaccination among children over five years in some areas and this has resulted in some local shortages. Steps have been taken to alleviate these shortages and additional supplies of vaccine will be arriving in the country next week.
