Vol. 385 No. 2

Written Answers. - Medical Card Eligibility.

191.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in processing an application for a medical card for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact that the person's sole income is disability benefit; and if a card will be approved.

The question of determining eligibility for a medical card in individual cases is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. Accordingly in this instance, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, South-Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
