Vol. 385 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Lottery Allocation Application.

27.

asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the financial difficulties being experienced by the Irish Association for Victim Support and the invaluable role they have in counselling the victims of crime, he will reconsider his decision not to allocate funds from the national lottery to the group; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received a very considerable number of requests for assistance from the national lottery proceeds available to my Department. However, as the Deputy will appreciate, it has been possible to accede to only a relatively small number of these requests because of the limited funds available. This year's health allocation of national lottery proceeds has now been distributed or committed in full and consequently I am not in a position to reconsider my decision regarding funding for the Irish Association for Victim Support.
