Vol. 385 No. 2

Written Answers. - Recouping of Hospital Costs.

35.

asked the Minister for Health, in respect of patients in long stay hospitals and institutions, the means by which health boards are empowered to recoup the cost of administering patients' bank or investment accounts from the interest earned on such accounts.

I assume the Deputy is referring to patients who are in receipt of institutional assistance. Deductions by health boards from income accruing to such patients from any source are governed by the Institutional Assistance Regulations, 1954 as amended by the Institutional Assistance Regulations, 1965.
