Vol. 385 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Dublin Industrial Estate.

66.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Newtown industrial estate, Coolock, Dublin 5, has not been taken in charge by Dublin County Council despite more than a decade of operation, because the developer is in liquidation and, as a result, the occupiers have no council services; and whether legislative changes are necessary to rectify this position.

I am informed that the developers have made no request to take this estate in charge; that in response to complaints, Dublin Corporation propose to prepare an up-to-date survey of the estate with a view to taking enforcement action and that apart from water supply and drainage services, which would have been in existence when the area was transferred to them under the Local Government (Reorganisation) Act, 1985, a regular road sweeping service, (including gully cleaning) has been provided by the Cleansing Department since June 1986.
