Vol. 385 No. 7

Written Answers. - Educational Opportunity Scheme.

139.

asked the Minister for Education, in relation to the educational opportunity scheme which is operated by her Department in co-operation with the Department of Social Welfare, (1) the centres in addition to Limerick and Tallaght, Dublin 24, where the scheme is to be operated and (2) the reason for the delay in extending the scheme to those additional areas.

As indicated by me in my reply on 29 November to a parliamentary question on the educational opportunity scheme, my intention is, in agreement with the Minister for Social Welfare, to extend the scheme to ten other centres as soon as funding is arranged.

The new centres have not been finally decided.
