Written Answers. - Schools Quotas.

144.

asked the Minister for Education the number of vocational education schemes which are in excess of the authorised quota; the names of such schemes; and the extent to which they are in excess of the quota.

In the case of 22 vocational education committees final allocations have been authorised.

In the case of 16 further schemes the allocations authorised by my Department are the subject of appeals which have not yet been finalised. An approximate total of 50 wholetime teacher equivalents is involved in these appeals.

It would not be in accordance with normal practice to give details in relation to individual vocational education committees.

145.

asked the Minister for Education the number of voluntary secondary schools which are in excess of the authorised quota; the names of the schools concerned; and the extent to which they are in excess of the quota.

A total of 196 secondary schools have teachers in excess of their authorised quotas for the 1988-89 school year. The number of teachers in excess of the authorised quota at present is 312.

It would not be in accordance with normal practice to supply the information sought in respect of the individual schools concerned.
