Vol. 385 No. 7

Written Answers. - Liquid Milk Price.

75.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has received an application to grant an increase in the liquid milk price payable to farmers; when he received the application; and when he expects to make a decision on the matter.

I received an application for an increase in the minimum producer price for liquid milk in early September. The Government examined this application and in the context of their decision to set up a national milk agency decided not to adjust the statutory minimum producer price.

However, I understand that agreement has recently been reached within the industry on a voluntary increase in producer prices from 1 December 1988.
