Vol. 386 No. 1

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy.

232.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that two children (details supplied) in County Wexford have been on a waiting list for speech therapy since 1985; that their parents have been told these children will not be seen by a speech therapist for at least two more years; if he will indicate the steps he proposes to take to ensure that adequate speech therapy facilities are provided in County Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Arrangements for the provision of speech therapy services in County Wexford is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board. My information is that these children were assessed in October and November 1988 respectively. The Deputy will appreciate that the board has to have regard to the relative needs of individual cases in listing them for speech therapy services.
