Vol. 386 No. 1

Written Answers. - CBF Role in Meat Marketing.

27. Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the role he intends CBF to play in the coming year in the area of marketing having regard to the allocation he proposes to give that body.

I would refer the Deputy to my replies of 17 November 1988 to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 43, 44, and 63 regarding the funding of CBF. The activities which CBF should undertake in meat marketing are of course matters in the first instance for decision by the board. These activities must be within the framework of the powers and responsibilities conferred on it by the Córas Beostoic agus Feola Acts, 1979 and 1988, and within the total resources available to the body.
